ATLANTA, Ga. (July 26, 2019) – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) recently announced its Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls and the Vassar College women's basketball team was honored. Amongst the 25 Division III schools honored, the Brewers were second overall with a team grade point average of 3.763.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2018-19 season is the 24th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
Amongst the 117 colleges and universities recognized from five divisions (I, II, III, NAIA, 2-year), Vassar's cumulative GPA was actually the sixth-best in the nation. The Brewers were behind NAIA's Indiana Institute of Technology (3.817), Division II's Tiffin University (3.809), Division I Western Illinois and Division II's Lubbock Christian University (3.767) and Division III's Shenandoah University (3.764).

"I am so proud of our team for getting it done in the classroom," stated head coach Candace Signor-Brown. "They take their academics extremely seriously and it paid off as we were the #2 team in Division III. I am confident that our program will continue to give all of themselves in the classroom and on the court!"
Vassar, which was ranked sixth-overall by the WBCA last season, was the top Liberty League squad denoted on the list. The Brewers were joined by Ithaca College (4th in DIII) with a 3.679 and St. Lawrence University (13th in DIII) with a 3.592.
Western Illinois University, Tiffin University, Shenandoah University, Indiana Institute of Technology and Snow College (3.712) led their respective divisions in the 2018-19 WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
